Nickel Alloy 800

UNS N08800/N08810/N08811

Alloy 800, 800H and 800HT are nickel-iron-chromium alloys developed for high-temperature service where strength and resistance to carburization and oxidation are required. They were designed to perform reliably in environments exposed to elevated temperatures and aggressive atmospheres.

These alloys are the result of decades of development: Alloy 800 was introduced in the 1950s as a heat- and corrosion-resistant alloy with relatively low nickel content. Alloy 800H followed with a higher carbon content, and Alloy 800HT was further refined by tightening the carbon range and increasing the combined aluminium and titanium content to improve creep strength at high temperatures.

Key Characteristics

  • Nickel-iron-chromium alloys with high strength at elevated temperatures
  • Excellent resistance to carburization and oxidation
  • Very good corrosion resistance, including:
  • Resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking
  • Resistance to embrittlement from sigma-phase precipitation
  • Alloy 800H and 800HT offer:
  • Superior creep and stress-rupture properties compared with Alloy 800 (solution-annealed condition)
  • Alloy 800HT maintains toughness and strength after prolonged exposure to 1200–1600 °F (650–870 °C)
  • Good hot and cold workability
